Searching for a dental implant specialist in Vijayawada usually means you have already decided that a missing tooth deserves more than a quick fix. An implant is surgery in the jawbone followed by careful restorative work, so the person who plans it matters as much as the product. This page sets out what to look for, and how GIA Clinics answers each point.
What "specialist" should mean
Any dentist may place implants after a short course. A surgical specialist has trained for years in the bone, nerves and sinuses that surround an implant. At GIA Clinics, implants are led by Dr Sai Santosh, who holds an MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, completed a cranio-maxillofacial fellowship at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, and has 14 years of practice. He also holds Nobel Biocare certification, earned in 2016, and has training in cortical implantology.
Four questions worth asking any clinic
- Who places the implant, and will that same person review the healing?
- Will I see an X-ray or scan of my bone before I agree to anything?
- Which implant system will you use, and why that one for my jaw?
- What happens if my bone is thin or I have a medical condition?
How the planning works here
Your first visit includes an examination and an OPG X-ray, taken in-house, with a 3D scan where the bone needs a closer look. Dr Sai then explains which option fits, whether grafting is needed, and how long each stage should take. The implant goes in under local anaesthesia in the minor operation theatre. The bone usually needs two to four months to bond, and the whole course commonly runs three to six months.
GIA works with Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Adin implants, and the choice follows your bone and your plan. Options include single implants, cortico-basal implants for some patients with reduced bone, and full mouth rehabilitation.
When an implant is not the first step
Gum disease, uncontrolled diabetes and heavy smoking all affect healing, so a good specialist will sometimes ask you to wait. That advice is part of the job.
