Facial deformity correction is planned surgery to improve the shape, balance and function of the face and jaws, for example after an injury, a tumour, or a difference present from birth. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada it is planned and led by Dr Sai Santosh, an oral and cranio-maxillofacial surgeon trained at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore. Assessments are available at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Your first visit answers this properly, with an examination and, where needed, a scan, before you commit to anything.

Common examples include facial asymmetry, jaws that are too far forward or back, badly healed fractures, and changes after tumour or infection surgery. The right approach depends on the cause, so a detailed assessment comes first.
Often, yes, when the jaws are being moved. Braces line the teeth up so they meet properly once the jaw is in its new position.
Some problems are treated in childhood, but many corrections are timed after facial growth slows. Dr Sai Santosh will advise on the right timing.
Many jaw procedures are done from inside the mouth, so there are no outside scars. When an outside cut is needed, it is placed along natural skin lines where possible.
