    Your orthodontist checks your teeth, gums and bite, takes X-rays and records a 3D scan with our iTero scanner. No putty impressions.

    You see a digital preview of how your teeth are planned to move, and agree the plan and number of trays.

  3. Fitting your aligners

    We fit your first trays, add small tooth-coloured attachments if needed, and show you how to wear and clean them.

    Visit 3, about 2 to 4 weeks later

  4. Progress check-ups

    You change to the next set as advised and visit us regularly so we can check the teeth are tracking the plan.

    Every 6 to 10 weeks

  5. Retainers

    Once the teeth are in place, retainers help hold them there. Wearing them as advised is important.

Are clear aligners visible?

They are clear and close-fitting, so most people do not notice them in normal conversation. Small tooth-coloured attachments may be added to some teeth.

Can I eat with aligners in?

No. Take them out to eat and to drink anything other than plain water, then brush before putting them back.

Is EMI available for aligners?

Yes, EMI is available for aligner treatment. Our team can explain the options at your consultation.

What is the smile check?

A free online tool from Invisalign. You take a selfie and it shows an example of how your smile could look after aligner treatment. It is only an example, and your orthodontist plans your actual treatment after an examination and scan.

Do I need retainers after aligners?

Yes. Teeth tend to drift back, so retainers are usually needed after treatment to hold the result.
