FUE (follicular unit extraction) hair transplant moves individual hair follicles from the back and sides of the scalp to thinning or bald areas, under local anaesthesia. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada it is done by Dr Sai Santosh, a maxillofacial surgeon with MCHT hair transplant training, after a scalp microscope assessment. Consultations are available at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Your first visit answers this properly, with an examination and, where needed, a scan, before you commit to anything.
Dr Sai Santosh checks your scalp under a microscope and discusses your hair loss history.
Visit 1The graft plan and hairline are agreed, and routine blood tests are done.
Visit 1 or 2The donor area is numbed and individual follicles are removed with a fine punch.
Procedure dayFollicles are placed one by one into tiny openings at the planned angle and direction.
Procedure dayA first wash and checks follow; new hair growth is reviewed over the months.
Day 2 to 3, then monthsA close look at hair density, thickness and scalp health shows how active the hair loss is.
Knowing where you stand before planningThe number of grafts is matched to what your back and sides can safely give, keeping some for the future.
Protecting your donor areaThe hairline is drawn to suit your face shape and age, so it still looks natural as you get older.

Transplanted hair often sheds in the first weeks, which is normal. New growth usually starts around three to four months, with fuller results often by nine to twelve months.
Transplanted hair from the donor area usually keeps growing, but surrounding natural hair can continue to thin. Medicines or PRP may be suggested to protect it.
FUE leaves tiny dot scars in the donor area that are usually hidden by short hair. It does not leave a long linear scar.
Many people return to desk work within three to five days. Redness and small scabs usually settle within one to two weeks.
