Dermabrasion is a skin resurfacing treatment that gently removes the top layers of skin in a controlled way, so smoother skin grows back. It is used for acne scars, other scars and uneven texture. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada it is planned by Dr Sai Santosh, an oral and cranio-maxillofacial surgeon, at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Your first visit answers this properly, with an examination and, where needed, a scan, before you commit to anything.
Dr Sai Santosh looks at your scars, skin type and history and explains what can change.

The skin usually heals in one to two weeks, but pinkness often lasts several weeks and can take a few months to fade fully. It varies with skin type.
It can be used, but darker skin has a higher risk of patches of light or dark colour. Dr Sai Santosh will assess this and may suggest a gentler approach.
Many people need one treatment, though deeper scars sometimes need a second session after the skin has fully healed.
No. Dermabrasion usually softens scars and improves texture, but it does not erase them.
