Jaw and chin correction uses orthognathic surgery to reposition the upper or lower jaw, and genioplasty to reshape the chin, improving the bite and the balance of the face. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada it is led by Dr Sai Santosh, an oral and cranio-maxillofacial surgeon, often working with our orthodontists, who prepare the teeth with braces. Consultations are available at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Orthognathic surgery moves the upper or lower jaw to correct the bite. Genioplasty reshapes or repositions the chin and can be done alone or with jaw surgery.
Mild jaw differences can sometimes be managed with braces alone. When the jaw itself is out of position, surgery with braces usually gives a better result.
Most patients need one to three weeks away from work or college, with a soft diet for several weeks. Swelling often settles over a few weeks to a few months; it varies.
Jaw surgery is usually done from inside the mouth, so there are no visible scars on the face.
