Kids' dentistry is dental care planned around children, from first check-ups and preventive care to fillings and baby tooth treatment. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada we call it the Little Tooth Club. It is led by Dr Lalitya Dandamudi, our paediatric dentist (MDS Pedodontics), at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Little Tooth Club is children's dentistry at GIA. Every visit is planned around your child: a gentle hello, simple words, a chance to see the instruments first, and a pace they are comfortable with. Anxious children are never rushed.

Dr Lalitya meets your child, explains things in simple words and lets them see and touch the instruments before anything starts.
Visit 1A gentle check of the teeth, gums and bite. X-rays only if they are needed.
Visit 1Cleaning, fluoride varnish and, where useful, sealants on the back teeth to help protect them from decay.
Visit 1 or 2Fillings, baby tooth pulp treatment, caps or extractions, done at a pace your child can manage.
If neededWe show you how to brush your child's teeth, talk about food and drinks, and book the next check-up.
Every 6 monthsTreatment is always explained to you first, and to your child in words they understand.
From the first tooth or first birthday, so the dentist becomes a familiar, friendly place.
Gentle cleaning and fluoride varnish to strengthen young teeth.
A thin protective coat on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to keep decay out of the grooves.
Baby teeth hold space for adult teeth, so small cavities are treated before they cause pain.
Pulp treatment and caps to save a badly decayed or infected baby tooth.
Thumb sucking, mouth breathing or grinding, and an early look at how the teeth are coming in.
Tips to be checked by Dr Lalitya
Wipe the gums after feeds, start brushing with the first tooth, and plan the first dental visit by the first birthday.
Brush twice a day with a pea-sized smear of fluoride toothpaste, and help them brush until they can do it well.
The first adult molars arrive around 6. Ask about sealants, and keep sweets and sticky snacks to mealtimes.
A good time for a bite check with our orthodontists, and a mouthguard for contact sports.

Chief Paediatric & General Dentist, 14 years of practice. At both GIA clinics, 10 AM to 8:30 PM.

Ideally when the first tooth comes in, or by the first birthday. Early visits help catch problems and get children used to the dentist.
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for adult teeth and help with eating and speech, and untreated decay can cause pain and infection.
Dr Lalitya is trained in behaviour management and takes things step by step. For some children, conscious sedation may be discussed.
Sealants are thin coatings painted on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. They help keep food and germs out of the grooves.
