Facial Deformity Correction in Vijayawada

Procedure room at GIA Clinics Gunadala

Facial deformity correction in Vijayawada brings together surgery, planning and a good deal of patience. Some people have lived with a difference in their face since birth. Others have been changed by an accident, a tumour or an infection such as black fungus. In each case the aim is the same: to improve the shape, balance and function of the face and jaws. At GIA Clinics this work is planned and led by Dr Sai Santosh.

Who this helps

  • Facial asymmetry, where one side of the face or jaw is noticeably different
  • Old facial fractures that healed out of position
  • Changes to the face or jaw after tumour removal or infection
  • Jaw size or position differences that affect the bite, chewing or speech

Function comes first

Being able to chew, speak and close your mouth comfortably matters as much as appearance, and often the two are linked. So your first consultation covers both. Dr Sai will ask what troubles you most in everyday life, then examine your face, jaws and bite.

Planning on scans

Correction of this kind is planned in detail before any surgery. Photographs, an OPG X-ray and, where needed, a CT scan and bite records are collected. The surgery is then planned on those scans.

A team, not one person

Many cases involve more than a surgeon. When teeth need moving, our orthodontists work with Dr Sai. Dr Lalitya Dandamudi has a special interest in facial prosthetic rehabilitation for children with syndromic face deformities. Other specialists may be brought in as your case requires.

Timing

Children and teenagers who are still growing may need to wait, or may need treatment in stages. After a tumour or serious infection, your treating team will advise when it is safe to start. Planning and healing often run over several months, and major correction is carried out under anaesthesia in a hospital setting.

What to tell us early

Please mention diabetes, heart disease, bleeding problems, smoking or tobacco use, and any radiotherapy or surgery you have had to the face or jaws.

Realistic expectations

Surgery can improve shape and function, but it cannot make a face perfectly symmetrical, and every case differs. Dr Sai will talk you through what to expect for yours.
