Parents looking for a pediatric dentist in Gunadala, Vijayawada usually have one worry above the rest: how will my child cope? At GIA Clinics Gunadala, children are seen by Dr Lalitya Dandamudi, who holds an MDS in Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry and has 14 years of practice. We call children's dentistry here the Little Tooth Club, and the first visit is built to be easy.
What the first visit looks like
Say hello. Dr Lalitya greets your child and explains things in simple words. They can see and touch the instruments before anything starts.
Count the teeth. A gentle look at the teeth, gums and bite follows. X-rays are taken only if they are needed.
Shiny and clean. If your child is ready, there may be a cleaning and fluoride varnish, here or at a later visit.
High five. You are shown how to brush your child's teeth, and we talk about food and drinks before booking the next check-up.
Anxious children are never rushed. If today is only about sitting in the chair, that still counts as progress, and the next visit can pick up from there.
When to come
The first visit is best by the first birthday, or when the first tooth appears. After that, every six months works for most children.
How to prepare your child
- Pick a time of day when they are rested and fed
- Keep your words simple and positive, and avoid talk of pain or injections
- Bring any medicines they take and any earlier dental records
- Mention past bad experiences, so we can go at the right pace
If treatment is needed
Dr Lalitya provides sealants, fillings for baby teeth, pulp treatment, caps and extractions, at a pace your child can manage. Everything is explained to you first, and to your child in words they understand. Small cavities are treated early, because baby teeth hold the space for the adult teeth that follow.
