At GIA Clinics Gunadala, near Hyatt Place, this treatment is led by Dr Samata and Dr Naveen G. Braces are brackets and wires fixed to the teeth that move them gradually into a straighter position and correct the bite. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada, braces are planned and adjusted by our orthodontists Dr Samata Avula and Dr Naveen G at our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Your first visit answers this properly, with an examination and, where needed, a scan, before you commit to anything.
We check your teeth, bite and jaw, take X-rays, photos and a scan, and explain whether braces or aligners may suit you.
Visit 1Your orthodontist explains the type of braces, whether any teeth need removing, and the expected length of treatment.
Visit 2Brackets are bonded to the teeth and the wire is placed. We show you how to brush around them and what to avoid eating.
Visit 3The wires are changed or tightened step by step to keep the teeth moving as planned.
Every 4 to 6 weeksOnce the teeth are in place, the braces come off and retainers are given to hold the result.
End of treatmentStainless steel brackets and wires. Strong and reliable for a wide range of problems.
Children, teens and most bite correctionsTooth-coloured or clear brackets that blend in with the teeth. They need a little more care to avoid staining.
Teens and adults who want braces that show lessBrackets with a built-in clip that holds the wire, so no elastic ties are needed. Often easier to keep clean.

Many children are treated between about 10 and 14, but adults can have braces too. An early check around age 7 helps spot jaw growth problems.
Teeth usually feel sore for a few days after fitting and after adjustments. Soft food and simple painkillers usually help.
Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods such as nuts, toffees, hard sweets and corn on the cob, which can break brackets.
Both straighten teeth. Your orthodontist will explain which suits your bite, age and routine at the consultation.
