A hair transplant in Vijayawada is a decision you live with for decades, so it deserves more thought than comparing graft counts. The hairline you choose now still has to look right at fifty, and the donor hair at the back of your head is a limited supply. This page covers how to choose a provider across the city, and how GIA Clinics approaches the work.
Ask who actually does the procedure
At some centres, much of the work is handed to technicians. Ask directly who will design your hairline, who will extract the grafts and who will place them. At GIA Clinics, hair transplants are planned and performed by Dr Sai Santosh, an oral and cranio-maxillofacial surgeon who has completed a Masters course in Hair Transplantation (IGBAMS / ILAMED).
Ask how your donor area will be protected
Taking too many grafts from one area can leave it thin and cannot be undone. A careful plan matches the graft number to what the back and sides can safely give, and keeps some in reserve in case your hair loss continues.
Ask about the long-term plan
Hair loss often carries on around a transplant. A good surgeon looks at where your pattern is heading, not just at today's bald patch. That is why young men with changing hair loss are often advised to wait, and why sudden or patchy loss should have its cause checked first.
Be wary of these
- A promised graft number before anyone has examined your scalp
- Pressure to book today
- Before and after photos with no explanation of what is typical
- No clear answer about follow-up
What to expect at GIA
Your first step is a scalp assessment under a microscope, which shows hair density, thickness and donor quality. If a transplant suits you, the graft plan and hairline are agreed and routine blood tests are done. The procedure takes one day under local anaesthesia, and you stay awake and can take breaks. Expect three to four visits in all. New hair usually shows from three to four months, and fuller results often take nine to twelve.
Results vary with donor hair, hair-loss pattern and healing, and not everyone is a suitable candidate. If you are not, you will be told.
