Planning jaw surgery in Gunadala, Vijayawada is a two-person job. A surgeon alone cannot finish the bite, and an orthodontist alone cannot move the jaw. At GIA Clinics Gunadala, Dr Sai Santosh works with orthodontists Dr Samata Avula and Dr Naveen G from the very first assessment, and this page explains how that shared planning works.
Why two specialists see you
The orthodontist looks at how your teeth will have to sit once the jaw is in its new position. The surgeon works out how far the bone can and should move. Those two answers depend on each other, so they are decided together. Having both at one clinic means your records stay in one place, and you are not carrying files between offices.
The records we collect
- Photographs of your face and teeth
- X-rays, including an OPG taken here at the clinic
- Digital scans of your teeth
- A CT scan where needed, which is arranged for you
From these, the team maps the jaw movement before any treatment starts.
Your part of the plan
Regular braces appointments make up the longest part of your treatment, often lasting 6 to 18 months before surgery. Adjustment visits come round every few weeks, so the timing of your appointments matters. Dr Samata sees patients at Gunadala from 6 PM to 8:30 PM, while Dr Naveen is available by appointment. Your teeth and gums also need to be healthy, so any decay or gum disease is treated first.
The joint review before surgery
When the teeth are in position, the team checks that the plan still holds and agrees the date. The operation itself is done in a hospital setting under general anaesthesia. Afterwards, reviews come back to the clinic, where the surgeon checks your healing and your orthodontist fine-tunes the bite.
Who should ask for this assessment
Consider one if you have been told braces alone cannot fix your bite, or if you have an underbite, a set-back lower jaw, an open bite or an off-centre chin. Your face should have finished growing, so younger patients may be asked to wait.
