At GIA Clinics Gurunanak Colony, on Club Road, Funtimes, this treatment is led by Dr Sai Santosh and Dr Pravalika. A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone that holds a crown, bridge or denture in place of a missing tooth. At GIA Clinics in Vijayawada, implants are planned and placed by Dr Sai Santosh, our oral and maxillofacial surgeon, with Dr Pravalika Mogili, at both our Gunadala and Gurunanak Colony clinics.

Your first visit answers this properly, with an examination and, where needed, a scan, before you commit to anything.
We examine your mouth, take an OPG X-ray and, where needed, a 3D scan to check the bone and plan the implant position.
Visit 1Dr Sai explains which implant type suits you, whether any bone grafting is needed, and how long each stage should take.
Visit 1 or 2Under local anaesthesia, the implant is placed in the jaw in our minor operation theatre. Stitches, if used, come out in about a week.
Visit 2The bone bonds to the implant over the next few months. You may wear a temporary tooth during this time.
Usually 2 to 4 monthsWe scan or take impressions of the healed implant and fit your crown, bridge or denture, then check the bite.
Visit 3 to 5One implant replaces one missing tooth, with a crown on top. Neighbouring teeth are left untouched.
One or a few missing teeth with enough healthy boneImplants designed to anchor in the dense outer layer of the jaw, which can sometimes avoid bone grafting and allow teeth to be fitted sooner.
Some patients with thin or reduced bone, after careful assessmentSeveral implants support a fixed set of teeth for a whole jaw or both jaws, planned together with your bite.
Most or all teeth missing, or a denture you want to replace with fixed teeth

The area is numbed with local anaesthesia, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is common and usually settles with simple painkillers.
With good brushing, flossing and regular check-ups, implants often last many years. Smoking, gum disease and uncontrolled diabetes can shorten their life.
We use Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Adin implants. Dr Sai will suggest the one that fits your bone, bite and plan.
Often yes, if your blood sugar is well controlled. We may ask for recent test results and coordinate with your physician before surgery.
